I was searching for this answer and couldn’t find it quickly, thus decided to create this post. I keep running into the nwtraders.msft hostnames because I’m using CentOS images in Vagrant.., to be precise; the london.nwtraders.msft hostname..
NWTraders is a fictional company, created by Microsoft to showcase Microsoft Access.
NWTraders stands for Northwind Traders.
MSFT is Microsoft’s stock ticker symbol on NASDAQ: http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/msft
The fictional company Nortwind Traders (nwtraders) imports and exports specialty foods from around the world. You can use and experiment with Access with Northwind database while you’re learning and develop ideas for Access.
This fully satisfied my curiosity for today!

Nwtraders.msft was the DNS name given by Microsoft to their training domain in windows 2000. London.nwtraders.msft is the host name of the tutor’s computer.
